5 of the BEST high protein snacks

By bzellie 12 Jun 2019

Looking for a great protein snack packed full of flavour and nutrients? Well look no further, we've reviewed the best protein snacks around.

Whether you're a fitness fanatic and need a pre-workout boost or want a mid-afternoon snack to keep those sugar cravings at bay, then here are 6 different protein snacks tried and tested for you to choose from.

Kings Rib Eye Flavour Biltong 65g

Per 100g
Protein: 43.3g
Sat Fat: 1.6g
Cost: £2.50
Taste: 4/5
This definitely split the group. Some were lovers and some were haters, some may even say 'the marmite of protein snacks'.  These air-dried beef strips are packed full of protein so a great snack if you want to increase your protein intake that day. A downside was that they weren't a practical 'on the go' snack as you can't reseal them.

For Goodness Shake High Protein Chocolate Shake 475ml

Per 475ml
Protein: 25g
Sat Fat: 3.3g
Cost: £2
Taste: 4/5
If you're a chocolate fan then this one's for you. A delicious protein snack to have on the go, the only downside to this snack is that out of 25g of carbohydrates, 22.7g of this is sugar which is very high. Apart from this, it's a great tasty protein shake.

Graze Punchy Protein Nuts 118g

Per 100g
Protein: 22g
Sat Fat: 6.7g
Cost: £1.50 (on offer usually £3)
Taste: 5/5
These flavour filled nuts were a crowd pleaser with it getting a full 5/5 for taste. The price point of this product is quite expensive at £3 a packet, although they are on offer sometimes, so definitely grab a pack when they are at the lower price. A great protein source and extremely tasty at the same time, what more could you want?

Eat Natural Protein Bar Peanuts and Chocolate 45g

Per 45g
Protein: 10.2g
Sat Fat: 4.1g
Cost: 55p
Taste: 4/5
This is a great practical, on the go snack if you just wanted something quick and easy. Not to mention the price at 55p, this won't break the bank. This just tastes like a crunchy cereal bar so if protein bars don't tend to be up to your street, try this one.

Deliciously Ella Cacao & Almond Energy Ball 40g

Per 40g
Protein: 3.9g
Sat Fat: 1.6g
Cost: £1.80
Taste: 2/5
Like the Biltong, this energy ball split the group. Its texture is not the greatest, the best way to describe it is like eating an uncooked brownie (but not as nice as a brownie). It is also expensive for how little you get, it might be best to make your own energy ball, then you can put whatever you like in them.

Per 53g
Protein: 8.9g
Sat Fat: 4.3g
Cost: £1.20
Taste: 3/5
These flapjacks are a great easy snack if you're wanting something small and it's split into 3 bars, so you don't have to eat it all in one go. The downside, however, is that they are small and pretty expensive for how little you get. Cocoa and vanilla flavouring sounds great, but unfortunately, it's not as strong as some of the group had hoped.

The protein snack industry has become really popular and there are hundreds of different ones to choose from, so go out and try a few different ones to find your favourite.
