Sheffield - make the most of the outdoor city

By JordanBrowzer 20 Mar 2019

Make the most of our outdoor city, whether you stay in the city limits or travel beyond, there's plenty of things to do...

There's a popular skate park at Devonshire Green right in the centre of the city. Or on rainy days, head to House indoor skate park in Kelham Island.

Indoor Climbing

Being on the edge of the Peak District, the city is obsessed with climbing. The Foundry is just one of the many centres in Sheffield equipped with cutting-edge climbing walls and equipment.

Olympic-Standard Swimming

Ponds Forge International Sports Centre has an Olympic size swimming pool, which is great for serious swimmers and water slides for the rest of us!

Sheffield Round Walk

The 15-mile loop at the southwestern edge of the city takes in leafy parkland, woodland streams and pretty suburbs.

Mountain Biking

Looking to go mountain biking? Wharncliffe Woods is the place for you - it's an entire area of woods dedicated to just that.

Fell Running

The Peak District is a favourite for fell runners. Classic races include the High Peak Marathon and a 42 mile night time navigation endurance challenge for teams of four.

Bouldering & Climbing

The real source of Sheffield's passion for climbing is the nearby Peak District. Burbage South offers amateurs and experienced climbers plenty of challenges. Make sure you go with an accredited climbing school.
