Aberdeen Art Gallery
Aberdeen Art Gallery stands supreme within the Schoolhill/Belmont Street area, surrounded by some of the best architecture in the city. The stunning building, designed by Alexander Marshall Mackenzie, houses art and sculpture from across the globe, however also features historic and contemporary Scottish art. Opened in 1885, the gallery was substantially renovated between 2015 and 2019 and is now a truly world class space to enjoy the best of art. The gallery was recently a winner of the prestigious Art Fund Museum of the Year 2020 award.
The gallery features a striking remembrance hall, in addition to permanent and changing displays. The permanent collection includes fine art, archaeological artefacts, jewellery, crafts, coins, medals and objects of scientific interest.
The gallery shop offers unique gifts, while the café provides light lunches and perfectly brewed beverages.
