My favourite must try American recipes!

By FreshSocial 27 Jun 2017

My mind has been on American cuisine, resulting in my mouth watering and really missing my home country's favourite dishes.

While Britain has picked up a few of our tricks, especially with regards to the BBQ, it seems you still have a lot to learn from us Americans and there are still a LOT of recipes that haven't quite made their way over here yet.

So trust me when I say the following 8 American recipes are a must try:

  1. Strawberry Lemonade
    Strawberry lemonade
Sweet, ice cold and delicious - America knows what it's doing when it comes to cold drinks. There's no better way to quench your thirst on a sunny day than with some strawberry lemonade.
  2. Deviled Eggs
    Deviled Eggs
If you're hosting a party, deviled eggs are kind of a must for Americans and for good reason. This cheap and simple recipe is perfect for snacking - and I'm not even the biggest fan of eggs.
  3. Buffalo Wings
Truly Crispy Oven Baked Buffalo Wings - no false promises here, these wings are seriously crispy and unbelievably easy to make. Tossed in a classic Buffalo Sauce and served with blue cheese sauce. Watch the recipe video to HEAR just how crispy these are! www.recipetineats.com
Tangy hot sauce with a creamy blue cheese dip and crispy chicken on the bone, it really wouldn't be a true list of American recipes without buffalo wings.
  4. Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese
    Jalapeno Popper Grilled Cheese Sandwich
We know how to make a mean grilled cheese in the USA, so why not take the classic cheese toasty to the next level with this simple, yet delicious recipe? If you're a fan jalapeño poppers, you'll enjoy this one!
  5. Shrimp Po'Boy

This dish takes all the flavours from New Orleans to make the perfect shrimp, errr... prawn, sandwich. But don't be put off by this one - the crispy 'prawns' are complemented beautifully by a remoulade sauce.
  6. Homemade Primanti Bros. Sandwich
    primanti's sandwich, pittsburgh
A most famous and beloved sandwich from my hometown- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Your choice of meat (pastrami is my favourite) is topped with melted cheese, french fries, tangy slaw and a dash of hot sauce.
  7. Puppy Chow

A super easy snack/dessert is puppy chow. I'm not sure where the name came from, but it doesn't matter because once you start eating it, you can't stop.
  8. Dirt
Dirt Dessert - The classic! A trifle bowl filled with layers of crushed Oreos and chocolate mousse.
Not literally dirt, of course, but you can see how this one got its name. Crumbled Oreo adds an extra chocolatey crunch to this pudding, and gummy worms are a fun yummy bonus!

Bon Appétit!
