10 steps to stress free Exams

By sophiebk 16 Dec 2019

Taking your Exam

The key things to remember are:

  1. Get a good nights sleep the night before, if you're feeling anxious or restless take a walk and eat a good meal before winding down.
  2. Make sure to have a 'typical' day before you go in to the exam; don't skip breakfast or overload on coffee if you wouldn't normally
  3. Arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the exam and take some time to settle your nerves - try to avoid pre-exam speculation and focus on you
  4. Take all your equipment in a transparent bag
  5. Remember your student ID card
  6. Check your pockets before you go in for any notes (even for different subjects), mobile phones or other electronic devices - go in with just what you need for this exam. Also, any cover on your calculator case should either not be taken in to the examination hall or removed and placed in a bag at the front of the hall before the start of the examination.
  7. Make sure you switch off your phone, and double check this before you go in. You don't want to be worrying it's about to go off while you're trying to focus
  8. Listen and follow all instructions given to you by the invigilator
  9. Stay calm and read all questions fully - you can do this
  10. Make sure you leave enough time to check over your paper at the end - you want to make sure you leave knowing you've done all you can
