Edinburgh named one of best student cities in the World
That's right! You're living in the number 16th City in the WORLD for students. Coming behind the likes of London, Toyko and Sydney, Edinburgh stands well above Glasgow (at 43rd) as the second best city in the UK.
Affordable student fees, the diverse community and its large student population all contributed to its ranking. There are LOADS of other reasons why we love Edinburgh, let's take a look at just a handful...
- There's so much going on
Whether it's New Year’s Hogmanay street party or pretty Christmas markets during the winter months or the Fringe Fest in the summer, it's a vibrant and exciting city for tourists, locals and students alike.
- You can get back to nature
It might be a bustling city but you're never far from beautiful green spaces to relax in. Arthur's Seat offers stunning views all year round and the Royal Botanical Gardens is a great spot with 70 acres of landscape to explore.
- It's got charm
Wander down the Royal Mile and you will come across the historic, iconic streets of Old Town. With the Scottish Parliment Building, St Giles' Cathedral and Canongate Kirk, there's plenty to take in.
- It has a castle!
And a HUGE one at that. You can never get bored of looking at the striking Edinburgh Castle. It's been featured in many films including the new Avengers: Infinity War.
- It's a shoppers heaven
From Princes Street to Victoria Street, you could spend a whole day popping in and out of all the independent boutiques and high street stores.
