8 things to do in Edinburgh
Edinburgh is Scotland's capital and multicultural hub with so much to see and do!
Whilst you're living here why not explore and see some amazing things? These are just a few things that this vibrant city has to offer...
1. Dean Village
This tranquil oasis is only a short walk from the hustle & bustle of the city centre but on arrival, you will feel like you have entered a completely different era. An Instagram goldmine with a perfect blend of stunning architecture and outstanding natural beauty.
The palace itself is steeped in history and along with the abbey ruins and beautiful gardens, it's easy to lose track of time in here! You can choose to take it all in yourself or they also offer a free headphone tour of the palace so when you've got a quieter day, this is the place to go.

Actually, it's 107 yards further than a mile BUT you won’t notice that as you wander along these cobbled streets. Lined with stunning buildings and attractions, it's wise to take your time so as not to miss anything. Maybe one for a weekend or when you have friends and family visiting!
At the opposite end of The Royal Mile and dominating Edinburgh’s skyline, sits the magnificent Edinburgh Castle. It’s a great place to learn about Scotland’s history and the view from the castle is incredible. Make sure you stick around for the 1 o’clock gunfire (Monday - Saturday) - it'll be a real experience.
If you’re a bit of a Potterhead then a tour which takes in the inspiration for the magical series has to be done! The tour includes Spoon Cafe where the first chapters were written and Tom Riddle’s grave; it's guaranteed to have you buzzing with excitement. Guided tours are available but a bit of research will allow you to complete it on your own - for free.
6. Calton Hill
You'll find that Edinburgh is a great place for a hike (especially the closer to City Campus you get) but for a serious panoramic view of the city, you need to climb Calton Hill. With plenty of options for refreshment, once you have taken in (and photographed) the stunning views, you can chill out and recharge your batteries.
This was recently voted ‘The Best Cat Cafe in Europe’! As Edinburgh’s first, and (so far) only, cat café, this is definitely worth a visit. Seen as you have to leave your beloved family pet at home, it's a good way to get your fix. Maybe you just love cats...
Granted it's a few miles out of the city centre, BUT it's definitely worth the trip. This two-mile stretch of sandy beach is ideal for a relaxing walk when the weather holds out! Why not pick up some fish and chips afterwards too?
