How to keep your house plants alive and well!

By FreshSocial 19 Feb 2018

Having trouble keeping your plants alive in your flat?

It's not always easy maintaining indoor plants, especially living in student accommodation, but there may be things you didn't know that could help you out.

Yes, watering them is one of the obvious but there are more!

1. Maintenance is key
Make sure you're keeping an eye on it and if it's starting to look a bit dried out and sad, you can pick the dead leaves off to keep it looking its best.

2. NEVER leave it in direct sunlight
Believe it or not, your plants can get sunburnt (when those brown spots appear) and they die a bit quicker. So, move it away from the windowsill...

3. Keep it away from radiators
Getting too warm will also cause the plant to die so, you can water it all you like but if it's drying out nothing will help!

4. Spray the leaves
If the plant starts to collect dust, give the leaves a spray with some mist. You can buy these for only £1.19 on Amazon so no excuses...

5. What pot is it in?
The plastic plant pot that they come in isn't always the best so make sure you re-pot it to ensure it lasts as long as possible.

6. If you're away, ask someone to pop in
Heading home for the weekend? Ask one of your flatmates to keep an eye on it and keep it watered and out of the sun. Happy plants = happy life!

Whether you've got a decorative plant or you're growing herbs to save some money on your food shopping, following these tips should really help.
