Broke student guide: summer fun

By FreshSocial 05 Jun 2017

Not going abroad this year? Not to worry, there are plenty of fun things to get up to here in the UK.

Staycations are where it's at for summer '17, especially if you're low on cash. Get some mates on board and you'll have a laugh and make some great memories!

Follow our ultimate broke student guide to staycations and you'll be set:

  1. Make the most of your student discount
One of the many benefits of being a student is your student card! Yes, your picture may not be great, but take it with you wherever you go for cheap cinema tickets, bowling discounts, food and more!
  2. Release your inner daredevil

You're spoilt for choice when it comes to theme parks in this country. Spend a day at Alton Towers or Thorpe Park and your student card could mean cheaper entry. Don't forget to look out for the 2-4-1 offers on cereal boxes too!
  3. Make a trip to the seaside!
Who needs to go on a plane to relax on a beach? Definitely not you. Stay in a local b&b to save extra cash for your days on the seafront and your nights eating fish and chips with a pint. Perfect.
  4. Centreparks, anyone?

Get a group together and book a cabin (with a hot tub if you want added luxury) at one of the woodland resorts all over the UK. It's the perfect active holiday if you fancy cycling around the woods or getting into some watersports.
  5. Camping, or even upgrade to glamping
Now that the weather is starting to pick up a bit, it's perfect for camping. Spend your summer nights around a fire eating burgers from the bbq, having a few drinks and making great memories. And if you don't fancy a tent - opt for glamping instead.
  6. Find somewhere on Air BnB

It'll be like your home away from home, and you'll pay much less than you would in a hotel. Choose a city with some attractions or a great nightlife so you'll have a nice day and an even nicer place to go home to afterwards.
  7. Do all the touristy 'stuff'
No matter where you live there will be nice spots that you've probably never even thought (or had the chance) to visit before. Most museums, galleries, and parks are free! Explore your hometown or somewhere you've always wanted to go.
  8. ROAD TRIP!

Now that you and your uni mates have gone your separate ways, go on a road trip stopping in everyone's hometown. You'll have somewhere free to rest your head for the night and you're guaranteed a night of laughter! If you all chip in for petrol it'll cost next to nothing.
  9. Relax at a spa
A nice spa doesn't have to cost much if you get yourself on Groupon, Wowcher or similar sites for a cheap offer. And you're not any less of a man if you enjoy the fluffy robe and slippers - we promise!
  10. Enjoy the great outdoors

Go for a hike on one of the warmer days! It'll be a lot of fun, just don't push yourself too far. Take a tent along with you and stay overnight. Just make sure you set it up in the daylight - you'll struggle otherwise...

Have an amazing summer!
